Well, it all depends on what you need and before we start we will need to work that out. Maybe you are struggling to understand a particular topic or concept? Perhaps you struggle with the maths or maybe you are not scoring highly enough in written responses to questions.

For many people, confidence turns out to be the only real barrier whereas others are already doing well but really want to polish their performance so it is the best it can be. For some, the skills involved with practical work and measuring uncertainties are dark arts while others can perform really well in the classroom and with homework but fail to achieve their targets in the exam hall.

These (and others) are all common problems with which I can help.

Being fresh out of a top class university with a top class degree does not necessarily make someone an effective tutor. However 20+ years of helping students overcome all the problems above means that I am absolutely confident that I can help. Being an effective tutor isn’t just about excellent subject knowledge. It’s about knowing how people learn, knowing what has to be learned, knowing a variety of ways of getting ideas across, knowing what exam boards are looking for and guiding students towards their goals in the most efficient manner.

One Thing I Won’t Offer –

I won’t do your school / college homework for you! I won’t even help you with your homework!

If your school or college teacher thinks you are more capable than you really are then there can be adverse consequences. They might enter you for exams that you are not up to, they might give you less support than you need if they think you are doing fine, and they might give you ever harder work not realising that a tutor is doing it for you!

I will however, help you gain the knowledge, understanding and skills that you need to be able to tackle your homework yourself.
